Hi Sandy --
Thanks for the reminder. Do you think the cuttings would be hardy in zone 7a? If so, I'll take a few. I can reimburse you the postage or prepay, whichever you prefer.
I was moving the plants from the back room where it is cool, to the south windows for some better light because they were leafing out and discovered a fig. I was so very excited ...the very next day my dog discovered the fig and brought it to me

I think I'll wait until they are a bit more impressive! I put some cuttings in soil, some in water. One of the ones in water shows a green bud but no sign of roots. So, that makes me wonder about the ones in soil.
It takes a little while in water and I usually change the water daily. First you'll see the little white 'nubs' along the stem before you get roots. Assoon as I get one root about 1- 1 1/2, long, I put my cutting in potting mix.
I could be wrong...

Question for you all: I was sent cuttings of a mystery fig tree that produced wonderful fruit in the second year (it is living in a pot). I want to take cuttings to share but...WHEN? I have NOT seen any sign of the tree going dormant in these past 2 years...and wonder ifit WILL go dormant? Should I take them after fruiting? In the late fall?
