I need your advice about the light in my garden.
We purchased it just 6 months ago. And there are so many things to do. We have a small pond. Ican not decide with the right lighting for my garden.
Can you advice something.
PS: It should not be very expensive.

I can not find out something creative for the light in my garden. We can not afford services of a landscape designer specialist now.
Well, I am thinking about fixing this wallpack lamp https://www.mrosupply.com/ligh... on my barn( in the end of the garden) It will add some light in the end of my garden. Some light will be partially from my garage floodlight.

As for the pond. I want to put several garden lanterns, that work on solar lamps.

do you have any suggestions? If so, please share...

Welcome Regina! I've had good luck getting very inexpensive solar path lights to get an idea where I want lights to actually be. Easy to pick them up and move them around. Once you have your set up figured out, I think those low voltage systems are more efficient than solar, and the ability to turn the system on/off has its value. I'd rather leave the winter garden pretty much unlit unless we decide to go have an evening fire in which case I like to have some path lighting.

I think I read that there is an outdoor paint that glows in the dark (softly)
Do you want soft glow...or lighting for safety...esthetics or function?

Now is the time to get outdoor commercial lighting ..those little bulbs that look like Christmas tree lights and be wrapped around tree. Those can be wrapped up and inside twig balls / grapevine balls and hung in trees

We also got great patio lights at costco - cheap!

Didn't show up well in photo. These are maybe 2-3 inch clear round bulbs. Restaurants use on patios.

And there is always.......the moon....... 😊

We use solar path lights which we put on pvc pipes (use the correct size so the light bottom mount fits) painted to match the lights giving them more height in the garden. We leave them on year round, they have been in place for about five years and still look like new, they are metal with glass. I also have some hanging solar lights that hang from a tall double shepherds hook plant stake for even more height. I also put the solar light stakes (they come in different shapes like butterfly, birds, crackle globes) in potted plants on the patio since our children give us some these are stored away over winter.

When we first started with solar lights we bought some plastic ones and mounted them on wood dowels for extra height. The plastic lasted a couple years then got brittle and broke, it is worth buying the metal and glass lights they last for years.

They now have solar lighted patio umbrellas that would add some nice night time ambience. When ours needs replacing we will get one for our patio.

PVC pipes and shepard's hook. Those are great ideas. I have a center front area where we are installing a bench and a walkway. I think both ideas will be perfect. So, do you find any brand better? On days that are overcast, are the lamps noticeably dimmer?

I have lots of plants and like my lighting around the garden to be higher than the plants so they are easily seen day or night. The solar hanging ones with a top finial for hanging were from HSN, they can also set on a table because the bottom Is flat. The solar path lights were from QVC they came in sets of 8 or 10, I like ordering from them as they have the latest technology in solar lights for good prices plus you have 30 days to use them if you don't like them you can return them. On overcast days they may not fully charge and have a dimmer light that night and not burn as many hours. Ours stay light a long time depending on how sunny the day is they can light most of the night. I often look our at them when I get up during the night. The pattered glass light shades cast a lovely pattern even on the snow in winter. Our solar lights can be set for white or color changing lights, we happen to like the color changing. Another thing to keep in mind is that eventually the rechargeable batteries in solar lights will wear out after years of use, but you can purchase rechargeable solar light batteries. Overall we are very satisfied with our solar lights.

I am not familiar with the ins and outs of QVC etc., but will check it out.
How does one know when garden things/ lights being offered. I actually think of QVC as jewelry and clothing. For sure I will look because Home Depot and big box usually have same old stuff.

Just go to their website and search for solar lighting, they offer different kinds plus customer reviews are posted. I purchase all kinds of things from them from bedding to kitchen plus outdoor items. Just really handy for me instead of having to drive somewhere and not find what we want.

Oh I agree. Amazon is my "go to" as well as brick and mortar store websites. Why spend the gas and the aggravation of the drive and the parking only to not find what you want?


The malls are slowly going the way of the hand can opener ( altho I confess....I still use and love my Onieda hand cranking opener... )

Stores are closing....more and more, people are shopping on line from the big department stores websites

The only thing I really like shopping for besides the needed everyday items is plants that is something I seldom order unless it is hard to find as I like to see a nice health plant before buying.

If you have a tree or two in your garden, you can hang strings of lights from the trees to create a magical firefly-like glow. Brighter bulbs can illuminate your flowers even more.

I agree...try Costco and pay 25 percent of what the other sites/stores charge for nice commercial sturdy sets
