So do you actually pinch off the top or cut it?

Not sure about that. I think you can pinch it with your nails, but perhaps a small clean cissor is better. You can better ask Rainbow that. She is the expert on that field or RCanada. I amalso new to it.

You know I was wondering my tray that's only a week and a half old is pretty moist I haven't watered it due to it being moist. but my two in a half week old tray is really dry and so I put a water in the bottom of the tray should I also be spraying on the top my seedlings are really growing so I think I'm doing OK but some of the sites were saying to keep them moist at all times.

Whatever methods you have been using to water your seedlings seem perfectly okay. I sometimes bottom water and sometimes spray water on top. The point is to keep the adenium seedlings (just like any other kind of seedlings) moist at all times, but not water-logged. I am not at liberty to say how often to water since I grow my adeniums outdoors.

The individual compartments of your tray has a hole, if I'm not mistaken, so excess water will drain out freely. If there's a drip tray underneath the seedlings, put something between the drip tray and the seedling tray to keep the "crib" from sitting in water. (Gravel or rocks or something.) Hope this helps. Smiling

A footnote to my comment above:

Allowing the soil to dry out between waterings of seedlings from time to time may not kill the plant. But the prolonged and protracted practice of allowing the soil to dry out will most certainly arrest/stunt adenium growth. This is not from scientific evidence...it is from my own anecdotal evidence...I have seen it happen with some of my seedlings.

Such an informative read here. By accident I am now attempting to germinate 100 Adenium seeds and have lots of positive advice to start my journey. Had no idea about pinching the top or trimming tap roots. Thanks to all who have contributed to this thread.

Thank You!

Hurray! Hurray! They are looking good, Gerald! I'm starting my first batch of seeds. They took a long time to germinate (16 days), but now I have 2 peeking out. I'm still hoping for more plants. It is exciting!

Those first-germinating seedlings look great, @Bradfish83. You will have a great time in 2016, watching their growth.

Mine were planted a week ago and so far 11 out of 100 have sprouted. Did you soak your seeds before planting?

I only have 3 plants that are coming up. Yes, I soaked them for a couple of hours before planting, and have a heat mat and plastic dome cover on the containers.I'm thinking that maybe they weren't harvested at the correct time for optimal germination.
