I flowered this beautiful seedling this year, Queen Kong x El Flame, and assumed it was from NALS seed. Now that I try to find a record of it on the exchange I can't seem to find it there. I'd love to know who bred it. I wonder if it came from someone here?

Anthony, did it come from you, seed from Connie or Lisa? I know that Lisa bred Queen Kong. Anyway, it's just beautiful. I'm very happy with it and wanted to share the pics with whoever is the mum or dad of this baby!

That could be it. I didn't think I had any seed lots going back to 2012 but sometimes I forget stuff!

Thanks for showing the results of this cross, Della. It is always nice to see what comes out of the crosses. This is one that I have not planted.

Queen Kong (Lisa's cross) was used as the pod parent as it seems to be "bulletproof" and grows like a weed in the garden. It also has super long pedicels and secondary buds. El Flame was used because of its excellent clean clear colors and good flower form.

Great to know the background, Hank. A cross worth repeating! The seedling has beautiful clean colours and nice form. I hope next year can tell if it will mature to have good plant habit, health and vigour.

I bred Queen Kong and raised El Flame (from nals seed), but do not remember crossing those 2 so the seed didn't come from me directly. But what beautiful and unique babies you have there! How tall are they and how strong are the stems? Congrats on the new babies!

Well this one is first flowering at 18 months so it has only one bud on a stem barely more than 12". The flower is large and the stem was quite lax at the top, under the weight of the flower. Looking at the stem now, with petals dropped, it seems quite upright but not stiff. I hope it will mature strong enough to support the flowers. I'll have to keep you updated next year with photos of your grandkids as they grow up.

I would be glad to hear about them! The henryi in the genes usually does lead to weak stems, but but the blooms can be so lovely it is worth a little staking!
