Thanks Ibis.

The friendly Robin is always somewhere in my garden,..its his territory and he keeps off other Robins,..not so much the Jackdaws but i put out some fruit today and they made a meal of it,..one shot of a Blackbird.

Philip, you do have a lot of rain in Ireland ... but, that's what makes the Emerald Ilse so beautiful and green! Lovey dubby Wow, that sure is ducks aplenty! It looks like some of the beaches, lakes and waterways here, where many humans feed the seagulls, ducks and turtles, etc. I love that Swan, such a beautiful bird! That Robin is just so cute, the colors are so pretty and it looks like it is a friendly little bird. Interesting Blackbird with that bright colored bill.

Julie, that is a beautiful Hummingbird! Thumbs up Is it the Anna's or the Costa's?

I got some photos of the Woodpecker early this morning, then I went to put gas in my car and run some errands so I stopped on the way back and took photos of the Osprey nest and the Osprey.

Pileated Woodpecker, male. He worked at drilling that hole for a bit, then moved up the tree where he sat preening his feathers.

Oak tree and close up of the Osprey nest. I don't know if all that Tillandsia (Spanish Moss) is hanging from the tree branches or if perhaps some of it has been used in construction of the nest.

I believe Ibis had a Downy Woodpecker. If you look very closely you can barely see the black spot on the white outer feathers. The bill is too short for a Hairy.

My brother Rodney sent me this picture yesterday on his cell phone. He was at Etty Bay in north Queensland with his grandchildren. This is a male cassowary, which would have been much bigger than the children!

If it was me, I would have taken hundreds more photos. It is one of the rare, great sights in nature: a humongous bird that can look you in the eye.

Oooh, Glen I'm with you ... I would have taken hundreds of pictures of that bird, although it might be a bit scary being so close to one! Green Grin! I read that they sort of look like a cross between a Turkey and an Ostrich and I agree but they are much more colorful! I had no idea that the male can stretch to over 5 feet in height and weigh over 100 pounds ... Yikes!

Interesting reading about that big bird here: http://ngm.nationalgeographic....

And, they sure have huge feet! https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/...

When I realized I had full sun & a fairly large patio after we moved east a couple of years ago, I put out a little hummingbird feeder in my new garden and attracted one male Costa hummingbird. If the feeder is less than 2/3's full, he fusses at me. Sometimes he poses for pictures; I hardly ever get good ones.

This fall I added a second feeder with four holes thinking I'd attract more hummers. So far, this guy has it monopolized. On one occasion, he brought home a girl (we were thrilled!) and we remain hopeful!

Your pictures are awesome!

Your Costa is awesome Julie!

Cassowarys are thrilling & amazing & scary.

Lin, it looks to me like the Ospreys used that spanish moss in the construction of the nest. Sure there is lots on the tree too but I can see where they incorporated it into the nest. Looks like camouflage. Awesome photos of the Pileated Woodpecker.
