I plan, plant carefully, and watch what happens. Then I change my mind, make a new plan, plant carefully, and etc. This may go on a day or a week. If I refuse to like it, I will finally resort to just plunking it all over the place, until I am too tired to move it anymore. It is a system I have used through out my beds for years and years, And though I make myself crazy when a plant hits me this way, the truth is some of these anal addictive plunks have resulted in a few of my favorite spots in my gardens. Some fall under the "What was I thinking" category too.

I am a planner who eventually plunks!! Hilarious!

I thoroughly enjoy drawing it out. My career was in Residential Building Design, so planning is in my blood! Problem is, I tend towards symmetry, which is very restricting when it comes to nature Hilarious! so
I've learned some hard (and expensive) lessons! D'Oh! Whistling D'Oh! I think, I must have lived in a castle or an estate with formal, symmetrical gardens, and short, meticulously trimmed evergreen shrubs, in a former life! nodding (fantasize much?? Whistling )

Every year, I have a few sessions of "musical plants". Like everyone else, I move stuff to other areas, for various obvious reasons, but mostly to make space for something new! Especially daylilies! Whistling Whistling Green Grin!

It's a constant exercise in the gardening technique of plunking, while pushing myself into the world of asymmetrical design.... Smiling

I am a planner and a plunker! I have planned whole new beds and followed through with the design as planned (well, mostly Whistling ); but I tend to buy things on a whim and then, well, ya gotta just plunk em in somewhere. Big Grin

I have done no planning this year, except for some vague idea of a color scheme. But I have purchased a quantity of bulbs and seeds. It is now past time to plant the darn things. It is not enough to just have them. I know that she who dies with the most stuff wins but in this case the stuff has to be the final product.
Can't complain too loud about how the ball bounces when I'm the one who dropped it.
