How long have you grown those Rob? How well have they grown? I really like Blue Spiderweb!

The white one I grow get about 4' tall, maybe a little taller than that. Is that about the norm among spurias?

This will be their 3rd season Neal. They started off as a single small start and currently only 3-4 fans are showing off of each. I will transplant them into another pot this year.

I have also found them very slow to establish with the few I've tested.

I've got loads of these if anyone would like some. The foliage is stately and attractive when they're not blooming, they make a nice landscape and garden plant. This pic is crummy, but I can't seem to locate a better one (that I know I have..).

Cool, the clump has gotten too big, so I've got enough to send several boxes, each with enough to start a nice little clump.

Rob, Blue Spiderweb is really pretty!

Neal, I'm a little wary of adding the spurias after talking to Rick, but I don't have a wasp problem...I rarely see them... so I'd love a start of your spuria. Thumbs up

Sure thing Marilyn. I've never been stung by any of the wasps around the irises, they seem pretty intent on the blooms. That does always keep me from cutting any because they sometimes sit on a bloom and seem to look at me, daring me to challenge them! I've always felt like spurias would be a good cut flower- they have good substance. If I could just remember to go out and cut some at night! Being tall, they make a good back of the border plant anyway and that helps keep the wasps away from the viewer a bit.

I've read that supplying moisture for the first couple of years is recommended, that they need time to settle into the garden before they are so drought tolerant. I never really paid enough attention to the hybrid I got from Dee, so I think that is one reason it has been so slow to do anything. It did survive though, and that's saying something!

One of the websites that sells spurias, I think it was Cascadia Gardens, siad the spurias make great cut flowers, they last a very long time. That's one of the things that I found attractive about them.

When I was doing flower arrangements at shows I did a couple with Spurias in years when my garden was early. Remember doing one underwater with a yellow spuria. At that time had the Spurias against a south wall.

@gemini_sage

Neal, another of the Mamajack NOIDS opened. The photograph is horrible for color and clarity, but you can see the pattern. To me, it is lovely in person. What do you think?

That is really lovely! Conveys as azure blue in the photo, how would you describe the color? Is it as tall as the others?

Not quite as tall, and darker purple-blue. I WISH it was azure, but it is still a beauty. Do you want me to send some of it along when I send the white/yellow one?

I would love a start! Thank You! Do you grow any Louisiana irises? I have plenty of Sinfonietta that is true azure blue, you'd probably really like it.
