I've also seen spray painted Sempervivum, Haworthia, and Mammillaria.
I've seen them being sold at Lowe's and Home Depot.

HD has been selling them for at least 2 or 3 years. This is the first time Lowes has had any and they only had a few. There's a guy who works in the garden center who actually knows about plants. I hadn't seen him in a long time mostly having to do with timing. So I saw him the other day and gave him a 'tsk tsk'. He said that he was very upset that a buyer had stocked those and apparently has put an end to it. Maybe they'll turn up on the dollar rack.

I agree, if the buyers would stop buying them they would quit producing/manufacturing them.

I find it interesting that he even states that the first photo is not of the plants that will be sent.
This is another one of my photos, the one that shows first, then look at how he is actually growing them in the other photos. Looks like they are grown in his house/apartment?

Oh my those semps look awful! No wonder he is using your photos! By the time they get here from the Ukraine they would be dead starting out in that shape. Might not get through customs either.

I'm not sure I would recognize my photos, I've submitted so many. Lynn you have done twice or three times my contribution.

What blast from the past thread and I just now went through rose listings on eBay and found one of my rose photos as well as one of Zuzu's so I contacted them to remove them.

Most of the time but for eBay I just scrolled through, not that many listed right now.

I scroll through ebay and etsy every now and then. If there plants are worthy of selling they should be able to take a photo of them instead of stealing some ones photos.

Wow that is some etiolation on those sempervivum there, either looking like a mace or a mushroom. Curious that a couple are not seriously etiolated (the archno hybrids), while the rest are.

It is sad. And when you look at the prices on many of them they are very high compared to what you pay here in the U.S.

From experience it's best to buy from sempervivum specialty nurseries or collectors. When I first started collecting sempervivum I would buy at big box stores, nurseries around my area and such. So many miss named plants out there. Do your research on the plants you buy from other sources. We have a resource list of sempervivum nurseries here on this forum. They are all exceptional and most of us collectors sell as well. What more could you want.
