There doesn't seem to be a database entry for Grigg's Surpise, or am I not looking in the right place?

It's under 'Grigg's Surprise', not calcareum. But you should post your photo there - it's beautiful!

Tabby can I suggest that you go Your Account tab at the top of this page and then preferences and chose to add a watermark/id to your photos. That protects them form others using them without your permission and also give credit to you as the person that took the photo. Thumbs up

How about I delete it and you change your account settings and then repost the photo to the database?

'Tip Top' is the one calcareum that nothing seems to bother here.

Look at the difference light conditions makes in S. calcareum 'Pink Pearl'. The first photos gets full sun, no shade. The second photo gets morning sun. What a difference.

I had mine in full sun earlier in the year and moved to part shade too, and it's much happier there.

Mine just gets morning, early afternoon sun, but the sun is pretty intense. It grew well this year, but I don't think it's as open as your second photo.

The blue color really comes out when they only get morning sun. I may do some testing with some of the other semps to see what the color differences might be.

Here's my Pink Pearl in September. It gets morning and a bit of afternoon sun. I have an offset of it in more shade and they seem about the same, colorwise, but the offset is more open in habit.

And here is Calcareum, the species. It gets just morning sun.

You can really see a difference in the leaf shape between the two. Love them both Tabby.
Here is an older photo of my Pink Pearl which received some afternoon sun later in the day. It had the most beautiful color. After growing it in full sun for the last year I have decided to grow all of them with more shade. To me that is when they have the prettiest color.

All gorgeous! My brand new bed I made this summer is in all sun. I been thinking of building something permanent by it so it gets shade part of the day. I'm afraid that sun will just be too brutal on them. I'm trying to come up with some kind of fancy cement wall thingy....maybe about 3-4 ft. high....on one side.

Can you post a photo Chris? Maybe a painted canvas?
