Pelargoniums. I just call them pels. Actually I call them geraniums. LOL. Is there a special place you get your geraniums (mail order) or do you get the nicest ones you can find around in the nurseries?

I grew up just south of Tacoma near Pacific Lutheran University but I stay down here now because my son is here.

I have gotten a few from nuseries, some from a place in Maine called, oh that was 2 years ago forgot the name. It will come to me. Then a few from Sorticulture a plant-garden art event here in Everett. I save them every year. Well you know that from the pictures.

Now I have a question?? I bought a few turquoise pots, they go nice with my patio cushions, usually buy earth tones or rust red-terracotta pots. What to put into them?
Thumb of 2011-10-21/springcolor/190071
I just bought this little conifer Cupressus macrocarpa 'Salinga Aurea' Bright green! and a sedum, on the blue side with yellow in the leaves. I read that the blue foliage looks good in turquoise.
Any of you have this color pot?

I think blue tones, yellow, cream would look great. Personally I would pass on red or orange. What you have there looks nice Smiling

I think I do have a turquoise pot but nothing in it at this time.

So far I have used it just for some lily bulblets so that really doesn't count. I'll get a better look at it tomorrow in the light to see it is turquoise or closer to blue or in between. It is a really nice pot... Fred Meyers when they have those discount sales I like to pick up a few.

Spring, is it easy to over winter geraniums? I have not done it before and I have two geraniums I got this year that I just love. Would they overwinter in an unheated garage in zone 8?
Love all your photos, especially the Cuphea. Lovey dubby

Lynn,
Just keep them from freezing. Keep on the dry side!!! They stop growing in cool temps. I cut the top say third of as you can see in the photo. A big box is good for insulation, just watch for mold.
I grow geraniums from seed as well, have trouble getting them to bloom. Have had several growers tell me that geraniums are like suculents water wise. They look sad in the winter but as soon as they get heat in the spring they start to sprout. Takes a while so you may want to bring them in the house to get started early. Then they will look good for May plant out.
You have nothing to loose if they pass but, if they live happy day.
