Years ago the late Fred Tarlton of Alberta sent me some martagon seed and when I grew them out a few had more or less non-recurved flowers which I found interesting and so kind of followed up with trying to breed for them. Here are a few examples of some of the seedlings to dateā€¦and I always think of the very fine gentleman, Fred Tarlton, when I see them bloom each spring.

Very nice! The longer pedicels of some of those seedlings create placements that really highlight the flower form.

I like the flat faced and only partial recurved forms better in most cases.

Martagon seed from the NARGS seed ex turned up some, but not nearly as nice as nice as yours, Jim.

Hey, you've got some nice ones there, Rick. The white ones are really beautiful aren't they. That one with the lighter back is great too!

What a nice group of marties. They have a particular appeal in that more open form. And marties from seed, a true test of a person's patience. Congratulations.
