Lovely flowers, unusual color. I am pretty sure they are not E. peacockii, though. According to my guide book, they're supposed to be pink and tubular and arranged in a shepherd's crook, something like this:



There are a couple of different plants which have been reduced to synonymy as E. peacockii (one used to be called E. subsessilis). But they have nearly identical flowers despite some differences in the rosette.

I have never seen Echeveria flowers that weren't tubular (closed up to the end) so I'm actually not sure your plant is not an intergeneric hybrid. I wish I could come up with something to help figure out the mystery. Maybe for now it would be best to move the image to the generic Echeveria page (again, not sure that's right). TY for your note! When I get home from work, I can look through pics from that time and see if there is a pic of the label or other pics of that plant, which is unfortunately no longer with us, and may not have been a normal-looking specimen of its' kind in any case. It would have come from cactuscollection.com (Altman,) which I have found to have a very poor rate of success for correctly labeling their plants. So many of the plants I've purchased under that label were labeled incorrectly & about half of them have died because the horrible fibrous peat they use will not come off of roots and really kills plants in the moist, humid environment of south AL.

I have proposed the move you suggested, to genus-only Echeveria.

I am quite amazed at how many succulents you are able to grow there, Tiffany. It's not the ideal climate for succulents. A testament to your ability to provide the care they need. Probably also a fair bit of natural selection along the way, too.

Hey, TYVM! I've learned my lesson with these, to immediately propagate and assume that the existing roots will die because of that fibrous peat. If I can get a plant past that stage, and it isn't one that just can't survive high humidity, temps, and heavily oxygenated air, (that frustrating natural selection) I find some very enjoyable little plant friends! ;)
