Due to a wet and mostly mild winter followed by record high temperatures this spring, I am already shredding pastures! The grass is growing so fast I am going to have trouble keeping up with it. Also it has been too windy to spray so the weeds are out of control too. I am thinking of buying a few stocker calves to help out. I have never rebuilt my cow herd since the drought of 2011; perhaps it is time...

The pullet chicks I bought in February are about ready to start free-ranging - as soon as I clip a few wings. They fly way too well when they are small!

What is everyone else doing this month?

There has been a bit of corn planting here......mostly just the neighbor that HAS to get started just to get everyone else in a froth! Never mind if it is too wet, raining at the time, or just plain COLD..............gotta get started! He had his direct seeding all in in March. LOL

The leaves are just starting to show, and it's been warmer, so I'm hoping that winter has gone away.

Our pergola project is "ongoing"..............it's built, but we're still putzing and "adding" things. If anyone wants to see, it's over in the "Garden Structures" section.

I'm back from a 2 week househunting trip. Freezing temps when I left, near full bloom when I drove in yesterday. Quite a show this year with flowering trees and shrubs - even the ancient quince is blooming like crazy. The grass is super green and need mowing and the weeds are springing to life - lots to do.

My chicken flock will get a reprieve from the sale barn. Sure wish I knew someone local who wants them - hate to sell them to strangers for their stew pot. Coop needs a good clean too,

Decided to put in a veg garden even though we plan to sell. The new owners would be the beneficiaries.
