Trimmer's new intro SMILING DRAGON is out of WCR. Frank Smith used it as well as Nicole Harry. I have it, but it didn't bloom for me last year.

I just looked up Pumpkin Prince and it has Dor Pod Parents and The only EV I see if the Pollen parents Pollen Parent is an EV so I bet it would be pretty hardy.

Stunning orange seedling, Lyle. I love orange daylilies and grow quite a few. APACHE SUNRISE is one that stops me in my tracks every time I see it bloom. Such a big bloom wirh wide petals. I saw it in May at Frank Smith's after it had been raining for a half day. Nearly every bloom in the garden was mushy and the color was streaked but APACHE looked as fresh as if it had just opened and looked just like the photo on their web site. In my TN garden, the bloom is not quite as dark. I crossed it with lots of oranges last summer.

Just an update on my Boundless Beauty indoors. I have set 5 pods so far.
This Pic. has a Pod of Itself with no tag, Executive Decision, Born To Reign and Wishmaster on the 1st. They have all set Pods. Just put Strawberry Candy on today.

This is of the other scape and just put Startle on it 2 days ago.

My Pollen box shows 2 rows in the center the 1st. of which is what I have used,, the row behind it is what I picked out for further crosses. Ones like Open My Eyes, Apache Sunrise, Talladega, Glistening Sea Shells, Wren's Song. Doubt if I will get all of them on there as may weaken it too much,

Steph - Bonnie Holly (Goldcoast daylilies) has that daylily for $25.00. That is great news you have set pod in the fall keep us up to date on your progress.

Thanks Ann! I agree to see APACHE SUNRISE blooming even in our bright sun is something to behold. I didn't make as many crosses using that one as I should have but I made up for it this year.

I will bloom out around 100 orange crosses some of my own from the seedling I have posted and a lot using AS I hope someone comes up with a cutting edge orange as they are a favorite of mine also.

Steph - You might also check with Rudy I sent him an orange seedling to test, it is a super grower and good form this photo is it in a 3 gallon pot. I have checked it and it is pod and pollen fertile not a lot of bells and whistles but could be a good base to start.....

Betty I think it is the same and that cross would be awesome. I love the bright bold orange and a dble edge on it would be the icing on the cake. I am wondering if a red. DL would intensify the coloring or ruin it.

Thanks Jan! I am working on several different things one area I dabble is the dark eye and edge which I find SEA OF POSSIBILITIES X BART ROBERTS will produce some nice dark eyes and edges.

SEA OF POSSIBILITIES X BART ROBERTS - these are planted together in a seedling bed and are sibs....

Thumb of 2011-11-18/lyle627/392028

I have also produced some 8" blooms which is not easy due to the fact the blooms don't always hold well on the scape

This seedling you can see the extra large bloom drops i would like it more open
