Over 6 years ago I bought mixed Asiatic lily bags. There were mainly red, orange, yellow ones. Very inexpensive maybe 20 cents a bulb, so a very common variety I hope.
Bloom time-- Red Asiatics, blackout bloom before it, Brindisi and navona before and are winding down when the orange starts, Fangio and Dolly Madison's have not started. Is that considered late spring early summer?
Height 30 inches to about 40 inches. When it gets to about 3 feet
It puts up the fasciated stem and next year there are two. Very prolific.
Very bright true orange blooms.



Any ideas on a cultivar name?

Sharon, it sounds like those asiatics have done really well for you. There are so many orange lilies out there from Holland, that it may be difficult to name. It could even possibly be an unnamed lily propagated and placed in a mix.

Maybe someone else will chime in with an idea. Enjoy those blossoms, good to hear they are doing well for you.

Tracey Thank you! I was hoping it was so common that it was an easily recognized cultivar. I do not know that much about lilium other than Asiatics and LA do okay here. They are pretty to look at in the garden. I appreciate you letting me know.

All I can offer is that it appears to be an LA lily based on the flower shape. What it's specific name is, I don't know.

It looks a lot like 'stainless steel' but that one is pollenless

Joe- Thank you! That is a help, based on height and bloom size, I think you might be right they do look more like my LA's.

Dave--Thank you! Does this count? They are all pollenless now, Heavy rain storm early this morning. Maybe 'Stainless Steel's is in its ancestry. I do not remember them getting seed pods, just alot of underground spreading and stem splitting.

I have no idea what it's called but I have a few bright orange prolific lilies like you - it looks like my NO ID except the anthers on yours are much darker (with the exception of the first one but the shape isn't right--this is the morning it opened, though -- do they change as the bloom matures?

Jackie-. Lilium almost leave me clueless. I know that my bloom was probably open for awhile. I did notice that my lilium anthers did change with time. Rain completely washes pollen off which makes them smoother and darker.
