Well back in 2015, some of us bought L. martagon var. albiflorum bulbs from B & D Lilies. I was pretty jealous when someone here had blooms in 2016 when mine came up blind. (However, I did scale the bulbs before I planted them. https://garden.org/thread/view...) But this season they are coming up strong, and the first has begun blooming. It seems to be a bit different from yours, Joe (https://garden.org/thread/view...), so I am thinking it has different genetics for cross pollenation. Anyone care to exchange pollen? And barring a catastrophe, I should have pollen to give away to anyone, too.

Don't know what my second might be like as it hasn't opened yet. The pea size hail that we had must have hit the stem just right, and bent the flower spike. I used a toothpick as a splint! nodding

Hmmm... I have splinted a few lilies myself this season. Nothing like being a cloddy clutz in the lily beds...

No pictures--it's raining lightly here, enough to keep me under a roof. But mine looks exactly like Joe's with larger spots and a little darker reverse than yours, Rick. 10 buds on one, 13 on the other.

Interesting Rick, mine is done flowering. All four buds open, varying decay but my plant had tons of what I believe to be apomictic seed last year. It was the first lily to flower with nothing near it and I got good seeds from it. A bunch of pods too which may or may not have contributed from the lily going from 10-12 buds down to four this year.

I only have a small amount of pollen earmarked for a project. That said, I will see if I can spare any. Also I will see if I saved the apomictic seed. Let's put it this way, if it's not apomictic it will probably be something crazy as their were only asiatics near it.

Actually, I would much prefer pollen from a form with larger spots, like Lorn's. And I have more than enough other projects of my own. I wouldn't want (or need) to curtail any possibilities that you have planned, Joe. If you could use some more pollen from me, send me a treemail.

Now I am wondering if albiflorum is prone to apomixis. I'll put an organza bag on a bud and see what happens.
