I just added a NOID daylily to my list. I gave it the name Hemerocallis brick w/stripe and uploaded 3 photos and some comments. When I open my personal list, this is now at the very top of the list, I assume because it is not associated with a botanical name. Is there a way to associate this with the generic Hemerocallis entry so this daylily will show up with all my other named varieties? I have several no-name seedlings that I'd like to track independently for bloom time, location, etc. How are others using this feature, particularly those of you who actively hybridizing?

Bonehead I just created a separate list for NOID/Unregistered daylilies and another for seedlings. That way they are all together and easily accessed without scrolling through my entire list. The new lists show up on my profile page.

I haven't tried it but you might try adding Hemerocallis before your garden name and see if it will sort it with your named daylilies.

I did name my NOID Hemerocallis Blah-blah-blah but it still shows up at the top of the list, and I cannot see where I can associate it with the generic Hemerocallis entry. Since I don't do any sort of hybridizing, I have no need to keep the few daylily seedlings (gifts from other gardeners) separate.

I'll likely just continue my old work-around -- which is to assign an unknown plant to the cultivar it most closely resembles (so it has a separate spot in my list) and make a note in the comment section that I am guessing on the cultivar. I won't upload any photos to the main database (since I don't have a positive ID) but now can upload photos just to my inventory list, which will be lovely. And, that way, the mystery plant will show up with my other daylillies.

Trying out the new system and tweaking it for my personal uses.

I would think that most NOIDs can be ID'd to the generic species (hemerocallis in this example) but are just questionable regarding the actual cultivar and/or are unnamed seedlings. It would make more sense (to me) to have these show up in the private list along with their compadres (my other daylillies). ?? If not, I'll just go back to Plan A. I think this feature may be more tailored to the hybridizers.

Elena, how did you make that NOID list show up on your profile page, separate from the whole plant list?

I think I will create a category of NOID just so I can sort to those if need be (to try to identify them). I really like the option to multi-categorize each entry in my list as I can then sort by type of plant (tree, perennial) or by characteristic (aromatic, native). Gives me a lot of options. I don't see myself using the no-name entry, at all. I'll just continue my normal practice of 'guessing' at a cultivar so each plant in my yard has its own entry.

@Weedwhacker, she made a separate category just like your list with your multiple categories.

Amazing what you can find on your profile! Hilarious! I have multiple ones too and may add a few more, my Perennials list is getting big.
