Do Canna Lilies come under this Forum. Seems to be a lot of day lilies.
I would be happy to hear from others about their experience with growing cannas from bloom to seed and back to bloom again.
I seem to be having some success but curious to see what others are doing.
Also are there any secrets to how or when to divide the parent plants as the pots seem full of rizome.
Being in Hawaii I don't have seasons to worry about so I could be growing them year round.
Thanks

Hi Mike,

Generally, neither Canna Lilies nor Daylilies fall under this forum (the Lilies forum), as it was intended for true Lilies (i.e. the Lilium genus). Daylilies have their own forum (https://garden.org/forums/view...), but Canna Lilies don't. There does seem to be some discussion about Canna Lilies on the Bulbs forum (https://garden.org/forums/view...), though.

I grow Tropicana in a large pot and it is impossible to get it out to divide. Since you can leave yours in the ground year round you may prefer to do that. They would be a lot easier to dig and divide.

For me it is too late to try to save it. It is dead and I still can't get it out of the pot. Something to work on in the fall I guess. It is easier for me to just go out and buy a new start, which I did for another pot.

Cannas also show up in the Tropicals forum from time to time.
