NOTHING comes with instructions any more. My iPad had none in the box, only available as a download. That download was about 200 pages to print!

Santa brought me a GPS this year. Again, no instructions. The only reason I have any clue is that it's a Garmin, similar to the one my husband has had for several years.

The thing is, for young people who grew up using computers, this stuff seems to be totally intuitive. My son wouldn't use an instruction booklet for any electronic gadget- he doesn't have any use for it. He just KNOWS how to use it. But for those of us older folks who aren't so good at this stuff, it's a different story.

New question: If I accidentally try submitting the same photo image for the plant database, will I get a message indicating so? It'd be impossible for me to keep track of which ones I've sent.

Thanks!

I agree

Uh oh, I got a Garmin for Christmas, I haven't opened it yet. Are you telling me it doesn't come with instructions? Sad

Love my Garmin, it is very user friendly Lynn, you will pick it up in no time. Only thing I don't like is the voices that pronounce the street names really get it way off. Example: My nephew lives on Meadow View Dr. but Garmin says "me-dow view doctor every time. Rolling on the floor laughing Whistling
I have started using the GPS more even when I know where I am going. I don't want to be one of those folks that go missing one day when they forget the way home. Sad Crying

Nope Sandy. You're just going to have to keep track of them. I noted them down by photo # as I went through in order of date taken. I think that's what most people do.

RE: instruction booklets --- they all seem to be "on" or downloaded to your computer. Duh --- if we don't know how to use the computer then how do we get to the instructions???? Blinking
And you're right Lynn; these kids grew up doing it BUT aren't WE (ahem, seniors) the largest population?????? Or are we considered obsolete? Just wait till one day when the satellites go down or power gets blown up. THEN we'll be in demand. WE who still remember how to write with pen & paper & multiply & divide, add & subtract the "old fashioned way". Hilarious! Hilarious! Hilarious! Hilarious!
I suppose I'm odd in the first place anyway. I'm nearly the only person I've known who actually read instructions. I learned how to tape on my VCR when none of my friends could work them. I've actually read my insurance policies cover to cover. Hmmmm.......

Seedsower......I submitted a duplicate and Dave caught it and I received a note in with the other accepted photo notes. If it was already posted, then treemail Dave and ask that the duplicate be deleted.

Ann....you are so right on instructions....very seldom do people read them until they get stuck...quilty here (((waving hand)))

Best place to ask questions about the Plant Database is the forum for it here
http://garden.org/forums/view/...

There's always someone ready to respond to any questions or problems concerning the database on that forum and they are usually pretty quick with their answers too.

I agree If you pose database questions in the database forum, either Dave or one of the moderators will know the answer for certain.

Also, I recommend that you start a new thread for a new question or idea. If you ask in the middle of a thread like this one it's less likely to be lost in the mindless, off-topic dribble that some of us are discussing. Hilarious!

Lynn, my Garmin had no instructions, but yours might. There are lots of different models of Garmins. Once you get a feel for it, it is pretty easy. But I still think they could give you a booklet for what they charge for the devices!

Ann, the largest populations group on earth are ALWAYS the children! There's been comments about how the baby-boomers are the largest population of seniors compared to any such previous senior generation, however. Not ALL young people are tech-smart, BTW. It just seems like it sometimes.
I would feel more optimistic about a bright future for man if he spent less time proving that he can outwit Nature and more time tasting her sweetness and respecting her seniority. E. B.White

Hi gchrismer. We no longer have the green tabs along the top of the page. Now you will find different
You will now find them on the left side of the your page. From Plant Database at the top, to the Goodies at the bottom of the list.
Thumb of 2015-02-22/valleylynn/5aadee

To see the different Forums available look at the middle of your home page and you will see 92 Forums. Click on that and you will find a list of all the different forums here at ATP.

Hope this was helpful?
