Speaking of Pigs, Hogs and fences. Did you know what is wondering around missouri and georgia!
Got this in an e-mail. No link. Just a free picture from the Internet. Green Grin!
Cute little Missouri pig ...That was killed in the town of Potosi , Mo.
We call them Piney Wood Rooter's. There was a documentary on about a month ago about these PIGSgrowing up rapidly in the US . They're all over Georgia , Alabama , Arkansas , Missouri , Florida and other states.Did you ever wonder what happens to those people that just leave home and disappear but their car is found out on a dirt road? Between big foot and these monsters, I think we know! This one was killed by a Medical Radiology worker... What would you do if this beast was coming at you? Run for dear life? Climb a tree? Or simply get run over?

Yes, they are nasty beasts with nasty dispositions. They root around and make an absolute mess destroying vegetation and ground and so forth. Not very attractive either, are they?

LindaTX8 said:Our fence keeps out deer, dogs and hogs (assuming the gates are closed)...things like that. It doesn't keep out raccoons, armadillos, squirrels, snakes...and many other things. Actually the deer in our area don't want to be in our yard...they're very wary of people, probably because of hunting...which isn't allowed inside the subdivision, but it does occur anyway. Even though I feed deer to keep them alive during the worst part of the drought, they are afraid of all humans. The kind of wildlife I am truly afraid of is the wild hogs. I have no pics of them, because even if they were out in daytime (they are usually nocturnal), I wouldn't be out there taking those pics.

Wild hogs = javelinas? I wouldn't want to meet up with them, either. It was bad enough watching what the feral hogs did in Old Yeller

Javelinas are not the same as wild hogs and from what I've read are not the so aggressive, unless cornered.

Nope. Feral (wild) hogs roam around rooting in the soil. They do a lot of damage to farms, ranches, plants and landscapes and then roll around in mud puddles (when they can find any). And they sometimes attack other animals and occasionally humans. The meat does taste good, however. Estimated population in Texas is 1.9 to 4 million of them.

That's way too many Hogs!! I certainly hope they figure a way to bring this problem under control, can you BBQ them? How about a Pig Roast, or How about a Chili Cook-off, make a contest out of it, you know? I certainly do not want to do any gardening for this kind of wildlife, maybe dave should be more specific. I don't know about hogs except that they had some sort of wild pig or wild boar one time that they had to do as the mystery ingredient on Iron Chefs one time (Food Network TV show). So there was the entire thing, head and all except that the guts were all gone. Then the chefs had to cut it up themselves into whatever cuts they wanted.

I Have had roatsted pig were the entire thing is roasted on a turning spite over a charcoal fire. It turns out delicious that way. Yumm. Thumbs up

Good idea about giving meat to the homeless! I've heard that many hunters and taxidermy companies often donate meat from their hunting to food banks. My state is already somewhat encouraging hunting of the beasts, as explained here.
