I understand that domestic hogs can revert back to wild in one single generation & are causing problems in many states as well. A friend in Alabama reports that state having horrible problems with both kinds of hogs.
I am a strong believer in the simple fact is that what matters in this life is how we treat others. I think that's what living is all about. Not what I've done in my life but how I've treated others. ~~ Sharon Brown

LindaTX8 said:Good idea about giving meat to the homeless! I've heard that many hunters and taxidermy companies often donate meat from their hunting to food banks. My state is already somewhat encouraging hunting of the beasts, as explained here.

Yes, I read in the email that they're all over Georgia , Alabama , Arkansas , Missouri , Florida and other states. I did'n hear about Texas till I read it here. That is a terrible thing to have to put up with beast of that size and nature. I read Linda's article about operation-pork-choppers and they got it going on in Texas, it's a big problem but Texas has a big plan that is aggressive and that is what is necessary to get this problem under control. Other states need to follow and do something real soon.

Feral pigs are a big problem here too. They just annihilate areas of wetlands.
There is an Australian horror movie called "Razorback". Very scary you can get it in the US.
"when a massive razorback boar attacks him, destroying his house and killing his grandson. He is accused of murdering the child but is acquitted due to lack of evidence. However his dignity is destroyed........ "
The problem is that when you are young your life it is ruined by your parents. When you are older it is ruined by your children.

My ex husband was a hog hunter in South Carolina. One of my best horses was an ex-hog hunting horse. He was a very brave horse, indeed. He had to pull the lassoed hogs out of the mud when they were trying to hide from the hunting dogs. They would tie up the hog, put in on the back of a horse and take it to a secluded pen on the farm where it was allowed to calm down. When the adrenaline backed off, they'd shoot it, almost like a sniper, because apparently the flesh is not only foul tasting but also toxic when the hog is highly stressed.

It was all very yucky and terrifying to me, and it's not these animals' faults that they are destructive....they aren't meant to be where they are, and they're there because of people. They are just trying to survive, but nonetheless, they are SO bad for the environment and they are supremely scary! Especially momma with piglets!
