I have an idea to plant this slope garden edge with ornamental grasses.
Can anyone recommend same for well drained soil full sun ?
Here are a few I am looking at:
Feather Reed grass

Smoke Signal Grass.

My main concern for any ornamental grass is self seeding, I am new to this plant.
This is the slope

Ge 1836,

I would recommend that you use google to search for info on the plants. I frequently find this reference to be helpful : http://www.missouribotanicalga...

Retailers won't tell you if it reseeds, as they are only highlighting it's best features, but other references frequently will.

Obviously, you can check the database here, but it does not always contain the plants you are considering, or have the info you are curious about.

Good Luck!

Jennifer, thanks for your reply.
I have changed my mind about Ornamental Grasses. Pirl pointed out it would take years for clumps to look like they do in the photos.
I am over 80 so need to make choices based on how long to maturity for anything I plant these days.

Seeing where you wanted to plant them, they could also present a problem for the path since they do grow large...and wide.

Pirl, Ohh yes but not in my time.
I have decided on Russian Sage and Hydrandeas.

There is a nice low hydrangea, Hallasan, but I haven't yet seen it available as it was in the past.

WOW What a great plant. It would look fantastic with Russian Sage even if the blooms didnt turn blue.
Would you say that was a spreading variety ?

I see what you mean about availability.
I will look for Mountain Hydrangeas when I go to the nursery.

Yes, it's a spreading one. Pray the deer don't like it.

Some mountain hydrangeas get huge. I have one and it's past 4' tall.

Check out hydrangea Tokyo Delight. In time it will grow taller but it's taken 7 years here to do so and it can be cut back. Mine has never become massive but now needs to be cut. It does get wide - very wide. Good with astilbe as a companion.
