Open Your Eyes
All Ruffled Up - not the best picture but it shows how nicely ruffled it is, especially for an SDB
Wish Upon A Star
Little Sweden
Bee Mused
Eramosa Skies - can't ever get a good picture of individual flowers of this one, because they stay down in the foliage
Cat's Eye (on the right, seedling from last year in my hand. I still like my seedling better, but also still think it isn't different enough to register)
Bombay Sapphire
Big Blue Eyes
The SDB season is about over here and, I have to say, it was a bit disappointing. I think it was so hot at the end of March when the buds were developing that their colors ended up being somewhat muted.
The IB season is starting up, though, and their colors look pretty good. It's been much more seasonable for the last week.
Protocol
Mariposa Wizard - always a heavy bloomer
Rare Edition
Blue Splash
A few TBs have started already
Montmartre - new one for me. Love it!
Bountiful Harvest - always one of my first TBs to bloom
Magnificent Masterpiece - it would be so easy to dismiss this as just another dark purple iris. It's not, it's spectacular. Pictures just don't do it justice and it has made a massive clump in just its second year. Every stalk to the right of the open flower is part of the clump. There are at least 20 stalks in there. We had 20+ mph winds all day today with gusts up to 40 mph and flower is almost pristine.
Twist Of Fate - I always liked the color of this one, but it shows one of the main weaknesses of most historic varieties: it doesn't have the substance to stand up to adverse weather. The wind today noticeably tore it up.
