Just finished a first-time order with a company called K.VAN BOURGONDIEN & SONS

I had been looking at their site and put a couple items in the shopping cart, but didn't buy them. I left the site without removing the items from the cart. I did not have an account with them. The next morning I got an email from them asking if free shipping would help. Since shipping was the main reasons I didn't order, I took them up on their offer.

I ordered a bag of 25 ranunculus for $7.50 and a bag of mixed blue-and-white Dutch Iris for $6.50. Those sounded like good prices compared to what I've seen in my local area so I splurged.

Had I ordered just one bag of ranunculus at $7.50, the shipping would have been $7.50, but with their free shipping offer I spent the extra money on a bag of Dutch Iris. Hopefully I'll get my bulbs by the end of September. I'll let you know how the order turns out.

Has anyone had any dealings with this company before?

I think I ordered from them several years ago. Tulips and crocus. They all came up and bloomed. I seem to remember that they were not big bulbs, at least not what I was used to, but they did bloom, and the tulips actually bloomed for another year or 2, better than I get from some tulips.

Thanks. Thank You! Thank You! I went to Costco yesterday and they had a bag of 90 Ranunculus for $12.99. Needless to say I splurged and picked them up immediately. Don't know where I'm gonna put 90 Ranunculus, but I'll think of something. Canceled my order for the other bulbs. Thank you for responding about the company though.

Monetwwqi I know this post is a little old but I haven't been on the forum in a few months and am catching up. If you're still interested in dutchbulbs.com, go take a look now as a lot of stuff is on sale. I never pay full price from there. I wait for a coupon or sale. Their "normal" prices are often ridiculous but their sale prices are often unbeatable. They take a long time to ship sometimes but usually everything still arrives in time to plant.

Any company related to the Garden Alive! conglomerate, stay away from. Again, just my personal opinion. K von.. use to be a reputable company years ago, but have recently adopted the typical Dutch attitude of "we don't run out of anything" In other words they don't always ship the correct item, and will substitute without even saying anything. So you think you are getting say 10 of cultivarX but get 3 of cultivar X, 1 of B, 3 of Y, 3 of C. And of course you don't know until the following year.

I found with dealing with them on issues like that, they just cancel the order, at least for me. By volume, I mainly have bought narcissus and daylilies from them. Some of the other perennial purchases I've had from them have been underwhelming. But I have had equally bad luck with Burpee and others...

I had only ordered a couple lily bulbs from them. The bulbs they sent were not even lily bulbs, some kind of tuber of some sort. That was enough to Keep me from ordering again. But I've also talked to a few other people who have had bad experiences with them.

There's tons of horrible reviews online for them. But I find a lot of the reviews have to do with their shipping schedule, which can be nonsensical at times. Their pricing is silly. It's in the vein of big chain stores that only offer a decent price if you have the magic coupon. Clearance sales are when I make most of my buys. Then you can get some legitimate deals.

"Lily" is one of those words you really have to keep an eye on. Every flower seems to be some kind of "lily" at one time or another.

So very true Ken. I should add though that I ordered Lilium bulbs, as in true lilies. Not a Daylily or anything like that. Not too many bulbs that resemble lilium bulbs. lol

This company is a total SCAM! DO NOT ORDER FROM THIS COMPANY!!! I placed an order last week and called when I did not receive my shipping information. The initial person that answered in the Phillipines said nothing could be done. When I asked to speak with a manager or supervisor then I was told the order was being RUSHED, then I spoke with someone else who told me I had to pay a $5.95 fee in order to get my product sooner than 3 weeks which I paid. Today a week later I still have no product and no shipping information. When I spoke with ROME in Clark Phillipines he is now saying there are no supervisors or managers available and nothing can be done to assist with my order. I then told him just to go ahead and cancel my order and then he said it would take 48-72 hours before a supervisor or manager could call me back after he told me none were available. Then when I told him just to go ahead and refund my order and cancel it, he said that wasn't an option either????!!!! Is this what you are call your service/product guarantee??? REALLY??? I would rather pay twice the price for the same bulbs but actually receive the product with excellent service. This has been an absolutely horrible experience and why you have people from the Phillipines answering the phone that are not willing to assist with anything is really beyond me?? WHY bother paying someone to actually even answer the phone? Now my order doesnt even appear to exist in their system anymore. I will be filing a credit card dispute immediately
