I grew these for quite some years. Can't recall if they used to be 'Ipswich' or something or other, British like that. Maybe Thompson & Morgan carried them. Remember the old days, when you could actually go to the nearby local garden center & buy a huge variety of IMPORTED flower seed packets? Hope somebody can recall the name. Brightens up a dreary day, in any case.

Thank you, zuzu. I figured the common name is 'Cottage Pinks' & may have an old T & M catalogue, listing the cross as alpinus as being one parent, (half) of the old hybrid. I just have to find it again.. I .think 'Ipswich' may be a collection of individual named varieties, made by divisions, that may each have their own cv. name. While these are from seeds, originally created by a group associated with T & M , early on. They probably did 'Rainbow Loveliness, too. My memory isn't what it used to be, as I already forgot, after looking in the catalogue! Thanks, & you may possibly be right...Shawn

I just figured it was easier to look it up online, than find my catalogue. It is 'Alwoods x alpinus' or simply 'Alwoodii alpinus'. I already had 'Rainbow Loveliness' & 'Sweetnesss'. I think some of the hybridizers offered their seeds dating way back, from about a 100 years ago, to Thompson & Morgan's catalogue. Thanks for reminding me & will get around to adding later on, to database.
