Please do some research before planting Eucalyptus in your garden.

I think it is a general rule for all Eucalyptus species: they have very shallow root system. In a country with tornados, they should not be allowed in gardens. We have no tornados here, but nobody plants Eucalyptus trees in their gardens, nor on city landscaping, etc. - only on plantations (used mainly for wood stoves and for short fibre pulp production).

I learned this many years ago, when I worked in a Pulp Mill and complained that some really old trees (looked healthy!) were eliminated by the roadside not far from my home. It was done for our safety *Blush* The area was extremely rainy and coastal (lots of strong winds).

Of course, you can keep them shrub-size (but this would mean to mutilate the trees) and would permanently obtain the silver coloured leaves typical to their young stage, but even if I had a large farm but lived in an area where tornados are likely, I would think of growing something different than a Eucalyptus plantation.
