Lori, I'm also a canyon dweller.. We don't get nearly as cold as you, but the stone fruits generally only live for a few years before they get gummosis, then die.. The exception is that darned disease-ridden genetic dwarf nectarine that keeps on keepin' on despite numerous ailments. But I'm surprised at how cold you get in central California.. I've always thought of Arroyo Grande as more temperate than Santa Cruz..
The surest sign that intelligent life exists elsewhere in the universe is that it has never tried to contact us.
