Glueing straw flowers to cactus heads is the #2 most noxious thing you can do to cactus. #1 is spray paint. Luckily, cactus are so waxy that the flowers come off pretty easily. Paint, on the other hand... I'm not sure why those plants even survive as synthesizing through paint may be tough.
