You can also-----store some bulbs in a fridge at it lowest temperature setting until early July (zone 5b/6a) . Then plant them. Cover with straw mulch for a couple 2 to 3 weeks to allow some cool temp rooting to begin. Then remove straw and let her go. You'll have fresh lilies in October. Keep in mind these bulbs won't amount to much the following year, but they will survive and return to normal after that. My favorite trick has always been to go out and find 'end of season' bargains on Stargazer bulbs from high end garden centers who most likely would have the highest quality bulbs under the best care and I'd get them for 75% off. It works. Want some earlier, plant some in June and so on.
