Thanks, Glen. I was afraid to go out on a limb about the Bufo but I did take note of the large poison glands on the back of its neck. I'm very surprised that it would be living so far north - Jack is in Illinois where it gets very cold in winter. Down here Bufo marinus is a terrible invasive species but probably up there the cold weather keeps them in check.

I sent my one lousy picture of the big frog/toad to the UF amphibian guy but he hasn't gotten back to me yet. But I did get another really good look at him/her (the frog not the guy) last night out the window of my front door as he/she was sitting about 18in. away when I turned on the light and of course they are a bit stunned by the sudden light so they sit still for a minute before leaping into the water. Gorgeous green color with elegant black markings on smooth skin. Not warty, so I'm thinking maybe not a River Frog but a Gopher Frog.
