Welcome Alan Welcome!

I feel honored to meet you here. I consider your Dad to be the best liked and most admired lilium hybridizer/breeder there ever was. I'm happy to see that you want to get started doing some lily work, too. I'm sure you will enjoy this forum and use it often as you move forward in your work.

There's a strong group of 'regulars' that are central to this forum. Each member of this central group seems to have their own special niche of lily growing expertise, whether it be simply growing lilies in mixed garden arrangement for beauty or hybridizing with a purpose. In time, you'll begin to recognize each for their individuality. For instance, my interests lie in hybridizing and breeding of primarily DIv. VI material and most of my experience is from hands on--in the dirt growing.

Concerning your question about Kushi Maya, I suggest you contact Richard Hyde directly. He's a good communicator and usually quite prompt with returning messages. Concerning Kushi Maya, the original scaled cloned stock seemed to be strong growers, but that there may be a hardiness issue between various runs with tissue culture clones and/also a difference between those raised under glass and those in the field. I got this information from Richard Hyde's blog/facebook page.

Take a little time to explore this forum, too. Check out the Tree Mail private message feature (envelope-upper right) and notifications and especially the plant data base for 'lilies'. Lots of good features here. And, feel free to ask any question, anytime.

Best wishes moving foward Smiling
