Plum thickets. The ones I've seen weren't so thick you couldn't get through them, but the last time I was given the task of picking plums I would have been in grade school. Maybe my smaller size then is why they were accessible. It seems to me you could just cut some pathways through the thickets this winter which would give you more access to the plums next year.
