Yes, Sue is right. Definitely spring sickness. Last year I had a lot more than what has shown up this year (so far). It seems every time I think I got by with not too much spring sickness...I go out a week later and see it all over the place.
The clumps you have look pretty full. Don't do a thing with them. They will grow out of it and if they don't put on a good show this year, chances are they will be fine next year.
I've been dealing with spring sickness in my gardens for years and for the life of me I cannot come up with any scenario that caused it. (And neither can the experts.) I try to see or record a consistent occurrence over the years, but, NOTHING. So frustrating. I sure hope the experts can come up with something. It's driving me nuts. I just want to know...
