Morgan - I never noticed mine set seed, in Manitoba or Alberta, but I don't think the Native Prairie greenhouse would sell sterile plants simply because they're trying to encourage the proliferation of native plants as opposed to non-native invasive plants. It's possible that mine didn't grow large because I was only in that location for 4 years after I bought it as a seedling, then lost it in the move. I'm starting fresh with another 1ft tall seedling as of May 2017.
Also, being a bee-bush is good for the bee population Thumbs up
