Thanks again Bill. I noticed that you are an orchid judge. I belonged to the Baton Rouge Orchid Society and during our annual show, the judges from SWOGA would fight on who would be the judge at our show. The reason was because we fed them very well with home cooked meals. I'm 68 years old and I got interested in orchids in my 20's. My favorite orchid was miltoniopsis. I tried for over thirty years to grow those plants and people would say it was too hot down here. My reply was explain how the people down in New Orleans grow them. After killing a lot of plants for over 30 years I found out the real reason on what I was doing wrong. It sure wasn't the temperature since I grew them in an air conditioned house. A vendor told me to water them with water in those plastic jugs that you can buy at WalMart. I purchased one plant to try what I was told to do about the water. Well, the advice was correct and I haven't killed a plant in over twelve years. The plants are constantly in flower plus they grow like weeds. I still feel sorry for all of the plants that I killed because of receiving advice from people who really never grew them. Whenever I bring a plant in full bloom to the monthly meeting, my fellow orchid growers can't believe their eyes. They are going to have to learn from trial and error how to grow them. I'm not telling them how easy it is to grow those plants.
