I'm new to Roses really. Weve only been growing them for a few years. And only had the one big Dr. Huey that we pollinated and made seed. It was the best growing one. And my wife loves it. Bc it does flower like crazy. We have a few other smaller DH but it doesnt get the flowers like the one we made. It has twice the flowers and has a deeper dark magenta color. Idk if it's best to cut the DH canes out or let them grow and flower. Last year it was very pretty. With the magenta flowers surrounded by light pink knockouts. Should the DH canes be cut out of the knockout? I understand the auxins and growth will go to the knockouts if cut out. But is there really any negative effect leaving them? I will upload a pic of that's ok, in here on your post if that's ok?
