Yes totally true. I have dug gingers up to divide them, cut up pieces and just tossed them into the edge of the woods (didn;t even plant them) and they rooted and grow huge every year, because its boggy out there and they love water. They get 7-8 feet. We are talking Hedychiums here, not ALL gingers
