It is hard to guess without visual, maybe if you tell us where you saw this flower It may help .

Here in my zone 5 Indiana we have several tall daisy shape blooming now
Helianthus or heliopsis most of those yellow

My best guess would be mexican sunflower, tithonia torch

or if the flowers are small1'' or so Helenium , but they are usually only 3foot or so.
