Not only do the blooms not last as long when cut, some of the new buds that open inside in a vase, don't have the luster, or good shape of those that bloom while getting nourished by the plant. I used to just give rhizomes to visitors who wanted my extras, then found out that many of them never got planted. I found that they had to invest something in them to give them motivation to plant them, so now I have often had a sale where I sell the extras for a small fee. I also give many extras to the local iris club to sell at their sale.
