Thank you, Rema. I am open to all suggestions. The deformed leaves are on two rose plants--a 'Peace" tree rose, in ground, on which I have never noticed such a condition before, and as you noted, in a pot, "Smooth Lady" which I purchased from Russian River Rose Company in Healdsburg, last fall. Both had normal-looking leaves and flowers last fall, and so far none of the other of rose leaves on my other plants show that deformity. BTW, you do well for English not being your native language! I know most Quebecois are pretty much bi-lingual. When I lived in Montreal and attempted to practice my French I was studying with people I met there, they always answered me in English! Adding extra minerals is no problem as I have both rock phosphate powder and azomite on hand which I have used in vegetable gardening and with my fruit trees.

SoCal--Chili Thrips?!? I guess I'm going to have to pay more attention to the recent threads on that. I have seen the damage in pics of what they can do to the roses in bud, and I suspect them on Elina at the garden where I volunteer, but their foliage looks normal that's starting to leaf out, so guess I will have to investigate more.
