Planted some Cleome last year. Saved seed for this year and once I had a pile I stopped saving it. We had a fairly mild winter. Here is the result of all that dropped seed. Luckily, it is very shallow rooted and doesn't take much effort to weed back. I didn't even have to use the seeds I saved.
