Just a quick idea... if you have a roll of aluminum foil tape around you may want try that. I've used it over the years for some last ditch/Hail Mary repairs and it works more often than it doesn't. If you have a good brand (like those used on boilers) the adhesive is one of the toughest around and since it's made to be used on water pipes it really holds up in extreme conditions.
