Hi SunnyinMichigan, I would love to see pictures of those seedlings that you find interesting. I think it is commendable that you want to keep the hybridizer's name with the seedlings. Maybe someone can help out with Brian's last name, but I think it is spelled Mahieu (without the 't').

If you want to name them something other than Mahieu #1, 2, etc., you could definitely do that. Garden names are a nice idea, and do sound better than 1, 2, etc! But as Sue mentioned, if you do decide to share them, just make sure the receiver knows that it is just a garden name and has not been registered.

I have several daylilies that I received in a trade with neighbors about 15 years ago. One of the neighbors told me that some of the daylilies were from a teacher who used daylilies to show his class how to hybridize. One of those seedlings still grows in my garden and has never been named, but I just love it because it is tall, large, red, and blooms later than most of my daylilies.
