Stush, those plants look like they might be these 2 species, respectively:

Starfish Plant (Ceropegia gigantea)

Starfish Cactus (Ceropegia grandiflora)

I would say the best approach to these matters of security (not unlike matters of health during the pandemic) is to have a calibrated sense of risk. Every time and place has its own relative risk. Experience is a harsh but explicitly realistic teacher in this regard. And honestly I really try to live in the moment and celebrate today, as if the whole thing might go up in flames overnight, because life is such a vulnerable and fragile and beautiful thing.

Speaking of which, the first flowers on this aloe opened today. Green Grin!
