I doubt seriously Canyon Lake will get the chill hours a cherry needs, yup, Hondo Valley in NM taught me about cherries and my love of them. Plus, you have that caliche caprock thing going there...zone 8 and 9 in Cali is a bit farther north than you would expect.
So many roads to take, choices to make, and laughs to share!
