Liz, Red Lacquer was sold in summer as far as I remember, as well as many other expensive varieties. In Peony Shop catalog I thought it was a mistake for those 3 peonies which were way more than $1000, probably it was not a mistake This year I want only Danse Du Feu and Lorelei, the same as last year, I decided to skip Caroline Constabel this time because it looks it is sensitive to soil to produce good flowers and I don't want to fill its hole with a special soil mixture. I don't know but I did not like pictures of it from a few people who had it.
Edited: I put Pietertje Vriend Wagenaar in the basket just because it is crazy cheap and still a very nice peony
