Discussing colors in different growing conditions is very interesting. I thought I would show some photos of a few from the same time of year, but different growing conditions, in different parts of the world.
in drought conditions, in the ground/raised bed, Pacific Northwest, USA
large nursery pot, probably more water provided, Bavaria, Germany
Both show great color, different form and size to rosettes because one is water deprived.
This particular introduction shows all the attributes we would look for in a high quality sempervivum. If you check out the datbase entry for this one, you will see that it has months of great color. I'll have to see about getting some winter and spring photos.
