My dream property would be a 30+ acre farm. I'd have several smaller pastures filled with native plants that I'd rotate my livestock through (mini cows and goats most likely). I'd also have chickens. Yay for free manure for fertilizer.

I'd have an orchard full of any fruit tree that can grow in my zone (likely stay in southern Nebraska or possibly Kansas). I'd probably have both some nice neat organized areas and some food forest type areas. I want to implement as many native plants as possible and do what I can for local pollinators. I'd have a sunken greenhouse that's heated to be able to grow tropical plants, especially fruit. I'd have another greenhouse or sun room on my house for starting seeds. Might have a few low or high tunnels for extending the growing season for cool weather crops. I'd have 3 garden areas. One in ground, one with raised beds, and one with containers. Ideally I'd grow the vast majority of food that my family needs, plus extra for selling and donating. The money made from selling would hopefully be enough for me to buy more seeds and supplies for the next year.

I'd probably hire high school and college kids, or other people who are struggling to make ends meet, to help with the farm They'd also get some food along with their wages. I'd invite daycare and school groups to come visit and see how things work. I'd encourage programs that create community gardens and teach gardening skills (and maybe preserving skills) to anyone who wants to learn. Maybe I'd host classes at my farm and even rent out some plots for people to grow their own produce.

I'd probably have solar panels and rain catchment so I can make the place as self-sustainable/off grid as possible. I'd want to be in the country, but close enough to town to provide opportunities to city kids to learn things they might not otherwise learn. Maybe I'd even try some hydroponics with fish involved.
