My dream property would be a 30+ acre farm. I'd have several smaller pastures filled with native plants that I'd rotate my livestock through (mini cows and goats most likely). I'd also have chickens. Yay for free manure for fertilizer.

I'd have an orchard full of any fruit tree that can grow in my zone (likely stay in southern Nebraska or possibly Kansas). I'd probably have both some nice neat organized areas and some food forest type areas. I want to implement as many native plants as possible and do what I can for local pollinators. I'd have a sunken greenhouse that's heated to be able to grow tropical plants, especially fruit. I'd have another greenhouse or sun room on my house for starting seeds. Might have a few low or high tunnels for extending the growing season for cool weather crops. I'd have 3 garden areas. One in ground, one with raised beds, and one with containers. Ideally I'd grow the vast majority of food that my family needs, plus extra for selling and donating. The money made from selling would hopefully be enough for me to buy more seeds and supplies for the next year.

I'd probably hire high school and college kids, or other people who are struggling to make ends meet, to help with the farm They'd also get some food along with their wages. I'd invite daycare and school groups to come visit and see how things work. I'd encourage programs that create community gardens and teach gardening skills (and maybe preserving skills) to anyone who wants to learn. Maybe I'd host classes at my farm and even rent out some plots for people to grow their own produce.

I'd probably have solar panels and rain catchment so I can make the place as self-sustainable/off grid as possible. I'd want to be in the country, but close enough to town to provide opportunities to city kids to learn things they might not otherwise learn. Maybe I'd even try some hydroponics with fish involved.

My dream garden is raised beds. One for each vegetable I'd like to grow and one for strawberries. One for cantaloupe. One for herbs, one for various mints.
Large, beautiful, porcelain containers for flowers and flowering shrubs.
I'd love to have the sides of my dream backyard edged with fragrant violets.
A lemon tree, and a very sweet Valencia orange.
Heaven!

40+ acres with lots of trees but plenty of open spaces also to plant a garden. I want plenty of nature around me and to live in harmony with it while having my animals and my garden.

I'd settle for a couple of acres situated in a way that I don't hear neighbors or traffic.

My sister and her husband just threw caution to the winds in the middle of the pandemic and bought five acres in the mountains an hour out of San Diego. It backs up to an Open Space reserve so feels much larger. Most of it is native trees and shrubs, some is landscaped with xeric plants, and there is a mature fruit orchard. They've found numerous pathways and little hidy-hole clearings, some with with chairs and gazebos. They will build a small but efficient house. That's my dream! I would create a pollinator garden with tons of color, install a hammock (probably more than one), some sort of water to submerge in (small pool? hot-tubbish arrangement?) but even without amenities, I'd settle for quiet and green. Something in a quiet area, away from too much hustle and bustle, that would allow the following:

- proper climate to keep my succulents outdoors. Sufficient space to have a few larger specimens.
- space for a few fruit trees.
- an area for my vegetable garden.
- small area for a potted tea garden.
- space for construction of a small greenhouse for my bromeliads and aroids.
- an area to use as a pollinator garden for native plants, and plants that bees and butterflies are fond of.
- room for a palm tree or two.
- small bog garden for some carnivores.
- somewhere I can put up a hammock for cozy reading and enjoyment of the above listed efforts.

And in the form of either a decent plot of land that I own, or a nicely sized backyard. That's another one that I'd love to have. A backyard! I haven't had the luxury of having my own backyard. So all my gardening has to be in the house or on the front lawn. And front lawns are often trashed by others around here... Glare

Dreams keep us all going. Twenty years ago I dreamed of building a house by our lake with a garden for all the plants I wanted to grow. Now at 80+ years I dream of simplifying my present yard and being able to keep gardening. Last year we still planted several new trees and I dream of seeing my yellow magnolias become big beautiful trees and the pawpaws bear fruit. My husband is still planting apple trees although after forty years of planting apple trees we have never harvested enough apples to make a pie. Success includes a prairie planting with an acre of Indian paintbrush from a single plant 35 years ago.

A magical place where purchased seeds always sprout, tree seeds never do unless asked.

Every plant I've ever bought is still alive and thriving... and I didn't put anything short behind anything tall!

Jack Frost and mosquitoes have never been seen there, and my back does not hurt.

There's a mountain at one end, a sandy beach at the other.

Even though it never gets cold, the lilacs (Syringa vulgaris) grow like crazy, blooming every day of the year.

The roses have no thorns, and all flowers are scented.

The poison ivy doesn't give anyone a rash, and the squirrels really understand my goals and help with the digging.

It only rains at night, and the wind never knocks over potted plants.

All of the caterpillars eat only weeds, and all turn into beautiful butterflies.

The dirt doesn't make my feet look dirty.

If we're dreaming, I'm going all-in!
