I agree about the expense- Ouch!! I also agree that I don't really think of them as "real roses"- but to me they are a really great hedge shrub that blooms all year even in hot dry conditions.
I have a neighbor that has probably 500 feet of a peach/pink Knock Out hedge along her driveway and it is in beautiful for about 8 months out of the year. Driving by- from a distance, mind you
Not my choice for landscape shrubbery.
